Review
In "Jack and the Christmas Pig" we are introduced to Jack, a little boy who is very attached to his stuffed pig named OP. They've been together since Jack was very young, and they've been through a lot together, including Jack's parents separating and moving to another city. But on Christmas Eve, OP disappears and Jack will do anything to rescue his best friend.
It is then that the Christmas Pig, which was given to Jack to replace OP, creates a plan so that together they can rescue OP from the Land of Forgotten Things. In an adventure full of magic and important messages, the two will face dangers and meet new friends, in search of rescuing Jack's old friend.
This book is a children's book that any adult will be able to read and fall in love with. I thought the story was really cute, and I thought it would make a great Christmas movie. Here we have a mixture of "Toy Story" with "Nutcracker" and even "Inside Out". The author managed to create a very interesting world within this Land of Forgotten Things, and it is possible to perceive beautiful and important messages, within its analogies and situations.
There are some very cool and mature themes that are addressed in the book, such as the impact of parental divorce on the lives of children and adolescents, how these age groups deal with changes, the maturation of dreams and desires, grief, friendship and love. In a charming and moving way, we are introduced to all of Jack's adventures and how he learns certain things. And I believe that as adults, we are able to perceive the beauty of certain lessons that are passed on in a very simple and captivating way.
Anyone who likes Christmas stories with beautiful messages at the end, or who just likes a beautiful story with coming of age at the end, this book is definitely worth reading. Not to mention this beautiful edition, with hard cover and ribbon to mark the page, which I thought was too beautiful. The illustrations also greatly enrich the experience.
